Burton Amateur Radio Club AGM Meeting Minutes February 15, 2017 Present: Geoff Newstead G8EKG, Roger Smith 2E0CLP, Michael White G4HZG, Barry Hardy 2E0ZAI, Bruce Wallwork G7PAL, Dave Ward G4PGJ, Mike Lewis 2E0EZG Apologies: Gary Coleman M0YIG

Next meeting: 8th March 2017 @ 20:00

I. Announcements Nominations for new committee Gary Coleman was elected as Chairman Geoff Newstead will remain as Vice Chairman Roger Smith will remain as Treasurer Mike Lewis was elected as Secretary.

II. Discussion It was discussed that the club had been able to purchase a number of assets over the last few years so whilst there wasn’t a lot of money left in the bank, the funds had been used for the benefit of the club. It wasn’t foreseen that much expense was planned for the coming year. It was agreed that it is the desire of the committee to grow the membership of the club and therefor to look to start to do things to encourage new members Bruce also mentioned that he has a briefcase which contains important club documents. Roger asked that this be given to Gary asap for safe keeping. Geoff said that it would be good to hold a committee meeting every other month to keep the momentum going and stay on track. Date for next meeting scheduled for 8th March 2017.

III. Roundtable It was established that the club no longer have a web domain name. It was agreed that we should look for available names. Then subsequently register domain and create an initial web presence. o Website (ML) o Domain Name (ML) Bruce kindly offered that his company RadioComms would pay the annual domain registration fees for the club. Ideas for raising the awareness of the club and amateur radio in general were discussed such as; Contesting, Licensed training schedules, Social events (BBQ’s), Live demo at Burton Regatta & other small fetes, Members using of shack & equipment, “taster sessions” for new members. More social media presences was also called for so things like Facebook, WebBlog and Twitter will be looked into (ML) Ideas for “Presentations Evenings” and/or demonstrations were tabled and included o Planning Permission o Antenna Design o Test Equipment o Propagation o SDR o Digi modes Noted Club callsign “G3NFC” and additionally “M3X” for special contests Geoff proposed that a new date/time be set for the midday lunch meets. This will now be the LAST TUESDAY of each month. The venue initially will be the Café inside Dunelm which has free parking and a lift for easy access. The time will be 12.00 – 13.00. The next meeting will be 28th February 2017. All Members welcome. It was agreed that ONLY PAID UP members would receive Minutes of Meeting. ML will send an email to all 2016 paid members informing them that memberships will remain @ £12 and are due now. Membership will run until February 28th 2018. Only paid Members or prospective members or special guests will be welcome to attend club events. All members are to be paid to Roger Smith of Five Elms, Lullington Road, Edingale, Staffordshire. B79 9JA. It was agreed that Roger would send off the renewal for the clubs’ RSGB membership. ML to organize the two field day registrations RSGB VHF Field Day 1st & 2nd July 2017 are both CONTEST DAYS Practical Wireless QRP 10th June – Setup, 11th is CONTEST DAY. Location to be xxxxxxxxx where two rooms have been booked already for the night of 10th June 2017
